Notices from Vets Tennis GB

Congratulations to Christine French who has been named by Tennis Europe as the European Women's 50 Player of the Year for 2009.  In January, Christine retained her Women's 50 title at the European Seniors Indoor Championships to add to her achievements of 2009.

Men's 50 Team Championships   Vets Tennis GB will again run an Inter-Club knockout tournament for the Men's 50 age category, subject to sufficient entries being received.  The finalists will be invited to take part in the European Seniors Club Championships being held in Elba, Italy, from 22 to 26 September.  For reference, the Men's 45 event is also likely to be in September.  Clubs must be affiliated to Vets Tennis GB and pay an entry fee of £15 and should apply by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it listing the names and ratings of potential team members.

Inter-County Championships 2010    All information for the 2010 Inter-County Championships was sent out by email to County Veterans' Organisers, with a copy to County Offices, on 26 January.  It is hoped that by now all team captains will have received details of their respective divisions and can begin to make their fixtures.  Work to post the Divisions for 2010 on the Web Site is in hand, to be completed by early March.  Results will be posted on a weekly basis once the season is under way.

Selection of Senior Teams for New Zealand    The selectors wish to make it known that selection for the Seniors teams to take part in the ITF World Team Championships in New Zealand, beginning on 21 February 2011, will take place after the Grass Court Championships at Wimbledon this August.  Selections will be announced in early September to allow ample time for making the necessary travel and accommodation bookings.
It is suggested that players who aspire to be considered for selection should make every effort to compete in one of the two remaining events this year - the British Open Veterans' Clay Court Championships at Bournemouth, 29 May to 5 June, or the British Veterans' Grass Court Championships at Wimbledon, 8 to 14 August.
