New Veterans’ Ranking System |
|
|
|
Vets Tennis GB has now finalised arrangements with the LTA for results from veterans’ singles tournaments in Great Britain to be included as part of the LTA Rankings system. Please find below some important information on how Veterans’ rankings will operate.
Background and Overview:
In April 2005 the LTA launched its rankings system. An LTA Ranking is a measure of where you stand in your age group nationally and within your county. It is similar to the ATP & WTA rankings and, unlike LTA Ratings, gives an immediate view of where you stand. Points are allocated depending on tournament performance; the emphasis is on how far you progress through the tournament, not just who you beat.
What tournaments will count towards my Veterans’ ranking? All Veterans’ sanctioned tournaments will automatically be included, provided the results are returned on TTP to the LTA within the time scales and guidelines set out for tournament organisers. At this stage no ranking points will be awarded for results of ITF tournaments played overseas and, as a result, the ranking lists relate only to British tournaments
.
When will I get my first ranking? Veterans’ rankings were launched on Friday 9 June 2006 and included all results since the start of the year. Now ongoing.
How is my ranking calculated?
-
Rankings are calculated every fortnight using your best 3 tournament performances over a rolling 12 month period.
-
Veterans’ tournaments have been graded, the higher the grade of tournament the more ranking points are available. Please see Appendix 1 for details of the Veterans’ Grading Structure.
-
Ranking lists will operate in all age groups, in five-year gaps, from 35s upwards.
-
Ranking points will be awarded for the age group in which you compete, therefore it is likely that players will be ranked in more than one age group.
-
Ranking points are awarded for the round you reach in a tournament. Please see Appendix 2 for information on the number of points allocated per round.
-
Ranking points will be awarded for main draw, qualifying and consolation events.
What must players ensure to be eligible for a ranking?
All players MUST have a correct and up-to-date LTA player membership number and date of birth. This will ensure results can be processed and recorded against the correct age group. To join or renew your LTA membership please visit www.LTA.org.uk/Membership It is each player’s responsibility to check that his/her membership details are correct Any queries should be directed to the LTA Membership department on 020 8487 7037 or online at www.LTA.org.uk/Membership
How do I find my ranking and the ranking lists? To find out your ranking and to access your ranking results all players will need to go to the LTA website and access the player search facility at www.lta.org.uk/Search/PlayerSearch To view the various age group ranking lists all players will need to go to the LTA website and access the ranking lists at www.lta.org.uk/Search/LTARankings
How do I appeal against incorrect results? If you feel your ranking has been miscalculated due to incorrect results you must contact the tournament referee to confirm the results submitted for the tournament in question are correct. If incorrect results have been submitted, the referee will need to re-send the results to the Competition Services Department.
